Chapter 52

Kingman Arizona is a small town that is far enough from the center of things to allow the eccentric free reign. Gun, camouflage, religious, or even nature enthusiasts can do what they want without parental supervision. If you want to start a new age cult, or a militia, this is the place. And the weather is perfect for sinus sufferers. Jeb and the boys drove Johnie-Bob's and the rental truck into Kingman and checked into the local hotel. They cleaned up and then went to a small restaurant in town. Jeb had them sit at a large round table by the bar. In many towns a group of clean cut athletic men in camouflage would have been noticed but not here. There wasn't a military base for miles but there were enough militias to protect the rights of the entire U.S. right wing movement in this one town. They hadn't been sitting at the table long, when a man in a jean jacket, blue jeans, cowboy boots, and aviator sun glasses walked up to the table. He sat down and they ordered burgers and beers.

"You guys are from Tulsa. That's nice." He unbuttoned the jean jacket and the edge of his shoulder holster was visible.

"We are heading west and need some help." It was Jeb who spoke first despite the mouthful of burger. A pickle chip slipped from his mouth as he spoke.

"Well you have come to the right place. We got God fearing, American patriots here who love this country more than anybody. Shoot, let's finish up and go out to my trailer and I'll show you a thing or two."

The boys gulped down their food and Jeb paid the bill. They filed out to the truck and climbed in. Jeb climbed into the front seat of a pickup with the patriot.

"What you boys up to?" The patriot looked right at Jeb and got right to the heart of the matter.

"Oh, we came out to see the All Western Gun Show. We are on our way to San Franciso to see that Harold MacAnish fellow." Careful thought Jeb, this guy could be from the ATF.

"That doctor who is populating Venus?" The patriot looked right at Jeb, ignoring the road ahead.

"Yeah, that's the guy. We are concerned that he is going to take people to a place outside of the rapture. When Jesus comes, he won't wipe out sinners on Venus and the Universe will not be truly free of them." Jeb laid out the problem.

"Oh-shoot. I never thought of that. You don't think Jesus would have jurisdiction over another planet? He is the Lord you know." The patriot had not considered this problem before and the implications were still becoming clear to him. "Well then he's got to be stopped. We can't let the rapture get ruined by one guy in San Francisco. You guys need any help?"

"That's what we are here for." Jeb smiled and they drove up to the patriot's trailer and parked.
